Welcome

My Name is Seonghee Park and I'm a web UI (User Interface) Designer working in the Bay Area of San Francisco.
I was born in South Korea. I majored in Korean Language and Literature at Ewha women's university and later in industrial design at Kookmin university. After graduating, I joined IBM Korea as a web designer. After about 2 years of work, I came to the US to study interface design. I studied Human-Centered Communication Design at the Institute of Design, Illinois Institute of Technology from 2003 to 2005. Since then, I've been working as a UI designer in the Bay Area.

UI Design is all about user's experience. As technologies advance and societies change, more services and information are available for users. Compared that the users are asked to know how to use machines, nowadays in old times, nowadays the users are less imposed to deal with those things. Those things are organized reasonably and designed intuitively. UI design jobs is to improve such user's experience to make things easy to use.

I enjoy and love my job. I like to be a UI Designer in a sense that I can contribute to saving users from mistakes and confusions and bring convenience to them. As well, I am very happy to be a UI designer because I can bring the technologies or concepts to the users and make them viable and easy to use.\n
In UI design work, getting knowledge of available technologies and new products are important. Sometimes, UI design work is like finding solutions to challenging problems. Understanding available technologies and products are like having hints. However, understanding users should come first. If possible the best way for design would be observing all users and talking about their needs. However, it is impossible to meet all users. This is the point where teamwork is valued. Solutions are not just coming from someone's idea. Various research and team's inputs can help finding solutions. I value and enjoy the process of understanding users, creating solutions, getting various inputs, testing users, and delivering realistic designs. I love seasoning those work with some creative "A-ha" moments. These are worth all the efforts, and those are the ones that keep me going on.
