Payee Directory

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Payee Directory provides an electronic way of collecting, approving, and managing payees' payment information. The goals of the project are to save the user's efforts from manual tasks as well as to reduce the risks of fraud activities.

INITIATIVES

Payee Directory collects payees' payment information through the following steps: 1. User (payor) sends out invitation to payees. 2. The invited payees create their accounts in Payment Center (the counterpart of Payee Directory) and enter their payment information. 3. User approves the payees information via Payee Directory. 4. The approved information is available in CEO applications for use. (Note that CEO is the name of the platform, and it stands for "Corporate Electronic Office") The user experience design team of a content strategist, an editor, and a UX designer worked on information architecture.

Flow Analysis

Between the choices of whether the menu follows the process or follows the priority of the usages, the decision was made to follow the priority of the usages based on the existing conventions within CEO. As most large-scale projects do, many business rules and logics were revealed and established in parallel with design development. In particular, entitlements and their permitted actions per status required input from the extended cross-functional team, and in order to support the team's understanding and better communication, a flow diagram was developed to explain the payee details statuses and entitlements.

The biggest challenge was with the complexity of data: seven payment types and other subsidiary options came with unique restrictions and interdependencies. The design employed the selection-driven structure using the module system. For example, the selections made in the profile settings defines the options to be displayed in settings for the applications. The selections made in the settings forthe applications defines the options to be displayed in Payee Profile. In this way, the number of options to be displayed to the user are limited, which help the user focus on the options that they need to deal with without being distracted or overwhelmed by a number of irrelevant options.
